No official announcement has been made yet but with Gilbert Crockett uploading an image of an Alien funeral to his instagram account and Kerry Getz posting the words below on the same network, it looks as though Alien Workshop is going through some turmoil after 24 years of incredible service – despite a huge effort from Rob Dyrdek to keep it running.
No hay ningún anuncio oficial todavía, pero con Gilbert Crockett subiendo una imagen de un funeral de un alien a su cuenta de instagram y Kerry Getz publicando estas palabras de aquí abajo de la misma red social. Parece como si Alien Workshop está pasando por un verdadero mal momento después de 24 años pura historia. A pesar de un enorme esfuerzo por parte de Rob Dyrdek para que siga funcionando (dinero de su bolsillo).
«Mi última caja de tablas de DNA Dist han sido todas de Alien Workshop. Ahora entiendo porqué. Es muy triste ver una compañía como esta irse del negocio, siendo una parte tan grande del skateboarding y como ha crecido con él. Aún no me lo quiero creer, pero les deseo lo mejor a todo el mundo en DNA y quiero dar las GRACIAS a todo el mundo que fue parte de ello y a todos a los que me han ayudado estos 14 años. Fue una increíble experiencia y disfruté cada minuto de ella. Gracias!» Kerry Getz
“My last box of boards from DNA distribution was all Alien Workshop. I now know why. It’s very sad to see a company like this go out of business that was such a huge part of Skateboarding and the growth of it. I still don’t wanna believe it, but I wish everyone over at the DNA the best and I wanna THANK everyone that was apart of it and anyone who helped me out over the past 14 years. It was an incredible journey and I enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you!” Kerry Getz.
El filmer Bill Weiss también añadió un par de palabras a su instagram este fin de semana: «No quiero decirlo, pero si lo que estoy escuchando sobre Alien Workshop que ya no está en el negocio, entonces estoy de verdad, destrozado. Workshop fue una de las marcas más bonitas que salieron del skateboarding lideradas por gente real y a quién de verdad me importaban que ahora tengo el placer de llamar amigos. #alienworkshopfan».
Skate videographer Bill Weiss also added words on insta this weekend: “Say it ain’t so 🙁 If what in hearing about the Alien Workshop being out of business is true than I’m truly devastated. Workshop is one of the most genuine beautiful things to ever come out of skateboarding led by some of the most caring and real people I’ve ever had the pleasure to know and call friends. Say it ain’t so. #alienworkshopfan”
Con Jason Dill, AVE, Dylan Rieder, Grant Taylor, John Fitzgerald y Donovon Piscopo todo fueras de AW tan recientemente, el equipo de AWS se vio golpeado sobremanera, como te puedes imaginar, cual compañía cuesta una pequeña fortuna mantenerla en marcha.
With Jason Dill, AVE, Dylan Rieder, Grant Taylor, John Fitzgerald and Donovon Piscopo all leaving AW for pastures new recently, Workshop’s team has been hit hard, and as you can probably imagine, any skateboard company costs a small fortune to run.
El futuro de la hermana de Alien Workshop, Habitat Skateboards parece que tiene un poco más de luz, desde que su creador y director creativo Joe Castrucci posteó un fénix renaciendo de las cenizas en su instagram este fin de semana. Esperemos que esto sea una clara analogía para que las generaciones venideras disfruten de lo que una marca como Habitat representa.
The future of AW’s sister company Habitat Skateboards may look brighter since founder and creative director Joe Castrucci posted a Pheonix on this instagram account this weekend. Let’s hope that the Pheonix will rise for both brands and the legacy that they have delivered us over the years is restored and can excite new generations to come.
No hay nota oficial, pero soy de los que creo que son demasiadas coincidencias para ser ciertas… Quizás simplemente estén pasando por un mal momento.

Alien Workshop, fue creada por Chris Carter, Mike Hill y Neil Blender en 1990, bajo el control de Dyrdek y, éste, finalmente la vendió a un holding y no se recuperó de esto.
Alien Workshop, this brand was created in 1990 by Chris Carter, Mike Hill and Neil Blender. The brand had a few years under the supervision of Rob Dyrdek was acquired by Vector Pacific Holdings. Since tried several ways to stay afloat but has finally been impossible.
Hoy es un día triste para el skateboarding. Alien Workshop deja de existir como marca. Siempre equipos y vídeos increíbles; desde Memory Screen hasta el Mindfield.
Como vemos arriba Bill Strobeck uno de los filmers de la marca y de skaters relacionados con la misma, así como la revista europea de skate por excelencia, kingpin, también en su instagram muestran su pena por la desaparición. Memory Screen, Timecode, Photosyntesis y Mindfield es el legado que nos deja esta marca increíble, que siempre ha tenido unos skaters brutales como: Josh Kalis, Pappalardo, Kirchart…
